General Information

European Voluntary Service (EVS) is one of the actions of Youth in Action Program financed by European Commission. EVS supports young people's participation in various forms of voluntary activities, in one of European countries. Under this Action, young people (aged 18 to 30) take part individually or in groups in non-profit, unpaid activities for the benefit of local communities. The service may last up to twelve months and can be performed in non-profit organizations like NGOs, museums etc.

An EVS activity can take place in a variety of areas: environment, culture, arts, youth, sports, social care, antidiscrimination, European information, unemployment and many others. EVS gives young volunteers a chance to use their own skills, develop personal interests, gain experience in many areas, learn a foreign language and learn more about different cultures.

EVS is open to all young people between 18 and 30 years old (in special cases also for those aged 16-30), regardless of their cultural background, gender, education, disability, knowledge of foreign languages.

Youth in Action Program covers cost of travel, board and lodging, training and provides monthly pocket money.

In order to become an EVS volunteer one needs to contact a Sending Organization which will help to find a Host Organization, provide with information, complete all formalities, and prepare future volunteers for their new life challenge.
