Mikel report

This is Mikel a volunteer from Bilbao and here you go my first article and impressions about the EVS experience. As always, the beginning was very fast and we couldn’t realize about what was going on, the first month was full of new people, activities, projects and music. We were lucky to arrive at the lasts weeks of the “summer” so we found a vibrant city full of events and life. It took only a bit of time to understand how this city works and also to meet a lot of people with the same liking. Some friends also lent us two guitars so Alexandra and I are trying to play a bit.Thank you very much Kacper ;)

The atmosphere on the organization is also amazing. I really like all the possibilities that we have in this project, Horyzonty cooperate with a lot of partners and colleagues so we can work and learn a lot in several areas. Besides, any new idea is welcome and it is good that coordinators are also concerned about knowing our preferences and personal interests. We are going step by step focusing in some specific topics during the month.
The fixed activities, the language lessons and home-schooling, are going well and this week more people was attending to the classes, the people are so enthusiastic with the lessons so is very easy to prepare the material and some activities for them. However, I feel I am a bit stuck with the personal project. I have started planning some activities about recycling and responsible consumption so I collected a lot of information and material that we can use for different workshops but I still don't know how to manage it and how to get the attention of the people.

Anyway, every week we have something new or we are helping in a different events, so it is not boring at all. This week I went to a Muslim cultural centre with other members of Horyzonty. There, the imam of the centre was explaining to us the different activities that they have, as religion and Arabic language lessons during the weekends and also a bit of the Muslim culture, the routines and practices of this religion.
Alexandra and Samuele went to a language event close to the German border. They spent the full day there having different workshops with young people and supporting the activities with different games. There was also a nice concert as you can see in the pictures so they could chill a bit after the hard work.

The next month promises to be even more exciting because we have to start preparing some big events that will take place at the end of November and first weeks of December which will be one of the busiest month.
See you the next month and stay tuned to our youtube channel!!

Alegría pal cuerpo!
